After a Lash Lift and Lash Tint: 48-Hour Do's and Don'ts
By Derma Aesthetics Spa | August 9, 2026
Our tint appointments are quick, 20 minutes, but the aftercare matters. We also take time to ask about your routine so you don’t accidentally undo your results once you walk back out into Denver’s dry air and strong sun.
The single most important rule after eyebrow tinting and a lash tint is simple: keep the area dry and oil-free for the first 24 to 48 hours. That means no steamy showers on your face, no sweaty workouts, no eye makeup, and no oil-based cleanser around the brows or lash line. If you do those things too soon, tint tends to fade faster and the skin around the eyes can get irritated.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: the rules that keep tint looking bold
Right after your Eyebrow & Eyelash Tint, we generally recommend treating those hairs like they’re fresh color. Let the tint fully settle before you introduce moisture, heat, friction, or oils.
48-hour no list: water on the area, steam, sauna, hot yoga, heavy sweating, rubbing your eyes, oil cleansers, cleansing balms, and eye makeup (mascara, liner, shadow).
Can you shower?
Yes, you can shower. Just keep your face away from direct water and avoid letting shampoo or conditioner run over your brows and lashes. A good trick is to angle your face away from the stream and rinse your hair with your chin slightly lifted. After, pat your face dry. Don’t rub your brow area with a towel.
Pool, hot tub, or a sweaty trail walk?
Hold off for at least 48 hours on chlorinated pools, hot tubs, and steamy environments. Chlorine and saltwater can strip dye and also sting around the eyes. If you’re active and you’re trying to fit your tint in around a Cherry Creek trail walk, schedule it so you can keep those first two days calmer.
Days 3 to 7: Denver sun, dryness, and the “don’t over-scrub” week
After the 48-hour mark, the color usually looks more even and “settled.” This is when most people accidentally shorten the life of their tint by going back to strong exfoliants or oil-heavy makeup removers right around the eyes.
In Denver, two things tend to work against your tint: sun and dryness. Sun exposure can make color fade faster, and dryness makes people rub their eyes without thinking. Keep your hands off your brows and lash line as much as you can. If you wear sunglasses outside, that helps a lot with squinting and rubbing on bright days.
Quick reality check: if your brows look a little deeper the first day, that’s normal. Tint often softens slightly as the skin around the hairs finishes shedding the surface stain.
And if you’re commuting around Cherry Creek, I-25, or Colorado Boulevard and you’re out in the heat, bring a clean tissue in your bag. Blot sweat. Don’t wipe across the brow area.
Cleansers, makeup, and serums: what protects eyebrow tinting results
After 48 hours, keep things simple around the eyes. Your goal is clean skin, minimal friction, and fewer oils sitting on the tinted hair.
- Cleanser: choose a gentle, water-based face wash around brows and lashes. Skip cleansing oils and balms near the lash line if you want the tint to last.
- Moisturizer: keep heavier creams off the brows for the first couple of days, then apply carefully around them instead of on top of the hairs.
- Makeup remover: use a water-based remover and a soft pad. Press and lift. Don’t scrub side-to-side.
- Spoolie habit: brush brows into place with a clean spoolie, especially after showering. It keeps them neat without needing extra product.
If you use lash serums or oil treatments, restart them after 48 hours. And if you’re searching “tint and lift eyelashes near me” because you want that low-maintenance, camera-ready look for work or the gym, these small habits are what stretch your results between appointments.
What’s normal after a lash tint, and when we want you to reach out
Most people feel totally fine after tinting. A little redness right after the service can happen, especially if your skin is reactive, but it should calm down quickly. Your lashes might also look darker at first and then settle into a more natural shade over the next day or two.
Reach out to us if you notice ongoing burning, swelling, or irritation around the eye area, or if something just feels “off.” We’d always rather talk it through early than have you guess at home.
“The staff was very professional and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire treatment.”
